CIVIC SQUARE BLOCK
LITIGATION OVER LEASE NEGOTIATIONS WITH COUNCIL Negotiations for the lease of a corner section of Civic Square are causing the finance committee of the City Council a little concern, difficulty having been experienced in settling the question of rights of lease and sale. An interim injunction restraining Reuben JafSe and Civic Properties, Limited, from dealing in any manner with the lease of this section until further order of the Court, was granted by Air. Justice Blair in the Supreme |Court yesterday. The section is at the corner of Wellesley and Queen Streets, and is part of the block on which it is proposed to erect a theatre and a block of shops. The application for the injunction was made by Air. K. V. Vialoux, acting for Air. Northcroft, on behalf of a syndicate comprising N. B. Spencer, E. W. Yates, L. W. Swan and others. When the adjoining leases were mentioned at the City Council last evening it was stated that if the tender of Alessrs. Indcr and Aletcalf were accepted they intended to exercise an option they held over the corner section also. The position of the corner section appeared obscure, however, and as the Council had received a further communication about it, the question of Jeases was referred back to the finance committee of the Council. .
