JACK HEENEY WANTS FIGHT IN AMERICA
PRELIMINARY TO BROTHER’S CONTEST with_gene tunney As all the world knows. Tom H.eney. of New Zealand, has been matched with Gene Tunney for the heavy-weight boxing championship of the world. Three of Tom's brothers. Jack' Arthur ar.d Pat. are making the journey to America to witness the fight :md to give him family support. The New Zealander is bound to do hi? best to win and with his brothers present will be all the more eager to seeur the title. The Sun’s Gisborne correspondent states that Jack Heeney is endeavouring to secure a fight as a preliminary to the main contest between his brother and Tunney. All New Zealand will await the result of the Tom Heeney fight, and with a brother on the samo programme still further interest is sura to be evinced. Jack Heeney last appeared in the ring at Wairoa on October 8, 1927, when he defeated Dick Loveridge on po : nts in 10 rounds.
Whether he will be able to emulate his brother in the American ring, if ho secures a match, remains to be se.'n.
