The first round of the Duff Cup match play competition was played at Waiuku on Saturday. The present holder of the cup, Christianson, received a convincing defeat at the hands of J. Forbes. Results are: Jerram and Aldred, all-square; Hill beat McCarthy, 3 up and 1: Herrold beat Ducker, 5 up and 4; Munro beat J. White. 2 up and 1; Forbes beat Christianson, 5 up and 4; Ohlson beat Barriball. 3 up and 1; Barker won from Day by default: Howden and Colbeck, all-square.
