UNIVERSITY'S MOVE LECTURE COURSES ARRANGED “I believe this is the beginning of something well worth while, and it will bring the university more in touch with civic lif e.’' This remark was made by the Hon. George Fowlds, chairman of the Auckland University College Council, at yesterday’s meeting of the council, when further information was giver concerning Professor H. Bel shaw’s public lectures or public bodies’ administration anc lqcal government. This course will be subsidised by the City Council a 1 the rate of £2 50 a year for five years The lectures will . be given during the Professor Be,shaw second term next year. There will be two courses, one on public body finance, and the other on public body administration. Later on the courses will be further developed. “I am satsified that Professor Belshaw will do the work well,” said the chairman, “but it will be necessary first of all to build up an adequate library on the subjects.” Few people, whose minds might not run to the consideration of civic problems, another course of lectures has been arranged. These will deal with the age of Shakespeare from the historical, sociological, architectural, biographical and musical standpoints. Eight professors will contribute to the series.
