GIFT FROM RABAUL
WEAPONS FOR MUSEUM The Auckland Museum has received a valuable collection of ethnological articles from New Guinea and Nigeria, the gift of Mr. Adam Wilkes, of Rabaul, who is visiting New Zealand. There are 450 specimens in the collection, 250 of which are from Africa, and the rest from New Guinea. They will not be unpacked, however, until the new museum is available. The collection includes weapons, insignia of tribal offices, and articles of everyday use and wear. It represents 20 years’ collecting on the part of Mr. Wilkes.
