MAY FAIR IN SOUTHLAND
CELEBRATIONS END Pres 3 Association. INVERCARGILL, Surfflay. Southland’s May, fair celebrations concluded amid most enthusiastic scenes last night, when, in spite of unfavourable weather, tremendous crowds, including many people in fancy dress, swarmed through the main streets. No vehicular traffic was permitted through the centre of the town between 7.30 and 10.30 p.m., and here merriment was at its height. The week has been a memorable one for Southlanders, and the numerous visitors who were present. R_ is safe to assume that the festival, which was instituted last year, has become an established event in the social life of the province.
