WOULD RATHER BE SHOT THAN SHOOT
SALVATIONIST’S VIEWS ON MILITARY TRAINING (Special to THE SUNJ CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. “If you had a rifle available and saw a man about to shoot you, would you shoot him?” asked Mr. E:. D. Mosley, S.M., in court yesterday. “No, certainly not,” answered a member of the Salvation Army, who was applying for exemption from military training for his son. “If your wife and children were about to be murdered,” asked the magistrate, “would you make any attempt to retaliate?” “No. Although I love them dearly, I would sooner see my wife and children go than face God as a murderer.” The magistrate exempted the boy, who was 14 years of age, until the ago of 18, and ordered that after that ago ho should be allowed total exemption, provided h© remained in the St. John Ambulance Brigade until the ago of 21.
