THE CITY COUNCIL
Sir,— I read in Thursday’s Sun an article written by Mr. IVlethuen, also a letter from “Civis.” Both are very good sidelights of the doings of that wonderful body the City Council. I am astonished that they propose further borrowing of a sum of £22,500 which would probably mean £50,000 before they were finished with it if you reckon it by past performances. Is there one single thing in which the council may claim to have made a success—fishing, tramways, buses, Civic Square, waterworks, control of motor traffic? I am indeed pleased that some of the ratepayers are at last waking up. The sooner we have a meeting of ratepayers and call on the council to resign the sooner we will have our rates reduced. EX-CONTRACTOR.
