BETTER TIMES AHEAD
ESTATE AGENTS OPTIMISTIC INSTITUTE’S ANNUAL REPORT That there was generally a more optimistic feeling at the present time than for the past three or four years is the opinion expressed__ 1 n the annual report of the Real estate Institute of Auckland. THIE report stated that New Zealand’s credit stood remarkably high in financial circles, as was shown by the recent Government loan flotation in London. If the banks could see their way to reduce the overdraft rate, better conditions might be looked for in the near future. Another satisfactory indication of the trend of the money market was a tendency toward 1 a reduction in the mortgage rate of interest. Money was now available on first-class securities at 6 per cent. The balance sheet showed a surplus of £lO 11s. The accumulated fund now stood at £ 2.48?, and the benevolence fund at £532. . _ During the year the institute had a membership of 167. an increase of three compared with the preyious year.
