GENERAL NOTES

The monthly meeting of the Auckland Poultry, Pigeon and Canarv Club will be held at the Y.M.C.A. at 7.45 p.m. on Thursday next. We have received an advance schedule of the Christchurch Poultry Club’s 61st annual show, to be held' in the King Edward Barracks on June 7, S and 9, when a wonderful array of challenge cups and trophies will* be competed for. In addition to the £25 Alf. Walker Memorial Cup. 3S challenge cups and over SO guinea and half-guinea specials, will be awarded in the poultry classes. The following specialist clubs are holding their annual show in conjunction with the Christchurch event, when their cups and trophies will be competed for: South Island Leghorn and Minorca Club: South Island New Zealand Old English Game Fowl Club; South Island Wyandotte Club: New Zealand Rhode Island Red Club; New

Zealand Sussex Club; Canterbury Bantam Club; United Pigeon Fanciers’ Club; Christchurch Canary and Cage Bird Club. The Sussex Club’s two £5 5s cups, and English Sussex Club's medals, to be won outright. Two South Island championships will also be in competition. The American Rhode Island Red Club have donated six championship ribbons, pigeons have 27 challenge cups, six trophies and numerous specials, including £25 Macquarie Shield for best frill, and Alec Frazer Memorial Shield for best fantail. Canary fanciers have seven cups and 18 valuable specials allotted to their section. Following are the judges: Mr. Geo. 11. Ambler (Auckland), all open classes other than Game; Mr. Winders (Invercargill), all Game and Game Bantams: Mr. T. Doig (Wellington), all Variety Bantams and Utility Light Breeds, ether than Minorcas; Mr. Don Stewart (Normanby), Utility Heavy Breeds, ducks and Utility Minorcas; Mr. C. P. Bradford (Christchurch), table poultry and eggs; Mr. W. Fraser, fancy pigeons, Tumblers and Fantails: Mr. G. Hales, magpies; Mr. W. B. McKenzie (Wellington), all other varieties of fancy pigeons; Mr. J. McLean, utility pigeons; Messrs. C. Anderson, B. Browning and F. Wilson, Homers; canaries, Mr. R. Thompson-Norwich (all classes); Mr. T. Wilkinson, Yorkshire and other varieties. In a letter received from a Blenheim fancier, it is reported that the Nelson Poultry Society is seriously considering seceding from the championship association, and becoming affiliated with the South Island Association. Mr. Barriball, president of the Waiuku Poultry Club, informs me that the dates of their annual show have been altered from June 7 and 8 to July IS and 19, when it will be held in conjunction with the Waiuku Kennel Club show. Mr. L. Belcher, Auckland, has been nominated as the Waiuku Club’s delegate at the North Island Poultry Association’s annual meeting, to be held during the Palmerston North show. Mr. W. Moore will represent the Auckland Yorkshire Canary ’Club.
