'PLANT NOW Liliuras are among the most majestie of flowering bulbs. They belong t 0 , widely distributed family from Europe Asia and America. Lilies grow dantly under widely different condi nons. In Japan they grow wild on Sl sides ot wooded lulls and pocket soil and stone. J 01 There is no doubt that they succeed best if grown in partial shade or atmosphere, but do not require tc. he set directly under trees nor In lot 3 shade. A hot. dry corner, or a oc-ld. wet. heavy soil are unsuitable. May, June and July are the b®st months for planting the bulbs, vihich should be set one foot apart and three inches deep. The following well-known varieties do well planted amon.j beds of rhododendrons or azaleas aiid Dthe* dwarf evergreen shrubs:—Lilium aural turn, L. speciosum, L. elegans, L. re . gale. L. sulphurium, L. longifolium. The following varieties do well in or*, dinary loamy ground:—Lilium eandidum. L. tigrinum, L. henrvi and L hansoni.
