NGARUAWAHIA FIRE BRIGADE

COUNCIL AID REQUESTED A public meeting was held on Thursday evening to discuss methods of raising £2OO to enable the Ngaruawahia Volunteer Fire Brigade to purchase a motor-reel. The Mayor, Mr. H. J. Sampson, presided. It was decided to recommend the borough council to increase the general rate for the year by four-fifths of a penny, which would yield the £2OO required. The brigade has already collected £77 toward the fund by voluntary endeavour, but has found itself unable to raise the balance. The meeting passed a vote of thanks to the brigade for its valuable services to the community.
