HUNTLY TOWN BOARD

A special meeting of tit-e Huntly Town Board was held on Thursday evening. Tenders were received for the supply of scoops, teams and drivers and removing about 4,000 cubic yards of slack in connection with the preparatory work of forming the new recreation ground. The tender of Mr. Frank Healey at 30s a dray scoop and 32s 6d a wheel scoop was accepted. Two teams will probably be put on at once. The Main Highways Board advised that it could not accede to the request for a £ 3 to £ 1 subsidy. Members were deeply concerned over the reply and far from satisfied that £2 to £1 subsidy was a fair proposition. It was agreed that Mr. E. George, chairman, should interview the chairman of the No. 2 District Council Highway Board in Auckland on the question. __
