WIFE’S SISTER NAMED AS CO-RESPONDENT

AN UNUSUAL PETITION Claiming that there had been misconduct on the part of her husband and naming her sister as co-respondent, Maud Wilkie petitioned for a divorce from Archibald Wilkie, farmer, of Moerewa, before Mr. Justice Blair at the Supreme Court this morning. Mr. R. Singer appeared for the petitioner. Petitioner stated that she married in 1906 and had one child. In October last year she went to Australia for a holiday, returning in November. When she left her sister and her husband were by no means friendly disposed toward each other, but on her return she found that a distinct change had taken place. In reply to questions her sister made certain admissions and on December 27 her husband admitted that misconduct had taken place. A signed admission from the husband was submitted in evidence. His Honour said that on the evidence submitted he could not grant the application. It had merely been stated that misconduct had occurred, but no proof had been brought in support of the petition. On counsel’s application the case was adjourned.
