The leaders of the Czecho-Si’ovakian sugar industry have sent a memorandum to the C vernment urging a grant of £1,160,000 . >m the public funds to be divided between that industry and the beet-growers. This aid is wanted to meet the losses which have resulted from the changes in the British duties. The Government is considering measures to meet the danger which is threatening the industry. N.Z. PAPER MILLS, LTD. DIVIDEND OF 6 PER CENT. A final dividend of 3 per cent, for the year ended March 31, 1928, is recommended by the directors of the New Zealand Paper Mills, Ltd., in their annual report, making 6 per cent, for the year. The accounts show that, after providing for bad and doubtful debts, depreciation, income tax, and payment of interim dividend (£4,500), there is available £9.641 10s Sd.
