A sharp rise in the price of all dairy stock close to profit was recorded at Buckland and Sons* Pukekohe sale yesterday. The demand for cows and heifers in milk or due to calve within the space of few weeks was exceptionally keen, and :s attributed to the fact that farmers who were compelled to quit stock on account of the abnormally dry season and the consequent shortage of feed, are now buying to replenish the vacancies in their herds. Good dairy cowp at profit sold up to £ls, forward heifers brought up to £l4 10s, and heifers due to calve in the early spring realised from £6 15s to £3 10s.
