EXHAUSTIVE TESTS FIRST TRANSATLANTIC SERVICE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) Reed. 1.5 p.m. LONDON, Wed. Asked whether his attention had been called to the proposal to build a fleet of airships of 6,750,000 cubic feet capacity for the transatlantic mail service, the Air Minister, Hon. Sir Samuel Hoare, said in the House of Commons to-day that the whole object of experiments in connection with airships was to carry out exhaustive tests betore incurring any further expenditure. No public money would therefore be spent on airship development projects un.il the RlOl had carried out extensive trials and satisfied all specification conditions.
