HEUGHAN RETURNING
FAMOUS ACTOR-SINGER CONCERT THIS MONTH There will be many in Auckland who, remembering the great pleasure jhe gave on the occasion of his last visit to this city when touring New Zealand in 1925, will be pleased to learn that William Heughan, the worldrenowned actor-singer, is to appear in the Town Hall on Monday, May 3s, and Saturday, June 2. Since last visiting New Zealand he has been appearing in all the principal cities throughout the United States, Canada, and in the British Isles, and has scored signal successes in London, New York, Chicago, Montreal, Toronto and other cities in these countries. He now comes to this country from a third tour of the North American Continent, where he has again scored the successes which have marked his very numerous appearances there. Writing of one of his late appearances in Detroit, the critic of the Detroit “Times” said: —“Detroit musiclovers listened to the superb voice of Heughan, marvelling the while at his mimetic and dramatic powers. For
Heughan is rightly termed one of the world’s few geniuses of song. He possesses that rare and remarkable gift of illusion and mastery of song delivery that adds perfection to an otherwise perfect voice.” This is but one of the m- ny eulogies eminent critics throughout the world have bestowed on him. He is, in the words of the “Daily Sketch,” London, “as good as an opera.” With him as assisting artists are: Maud Bell, the celebrated English ’celist. and Gladys Sayer, the wellknown pianiste, whom the public will remember as being associated with Heughan on his last tour. Box plans for the two recitals open at Lewis Eady, Ltd., on Tuesday, 22nd insL
