KITCHENER SCOUTS

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The secretary's report presented at the fifth annual meeting of the First Kitchener Troop of Boy Scouts and "Wolf Cubs, held recently, discloses the fact that the troop is the best equipped unit in the Auckland district. Last year nearly £ 80 had been spent on tents, camping gear, etc., said the secretary, and the whole equipment was now valued at £IOO, for which the troop committee had recently taken out an insurance policy for the same amount. It was with regret that the committee received the resignation of the Scoutmaster, Mr. A. S. Oxley, and the secretary, Mr. E. T. O. Downard. Mr. Oxley founded the Kitchener Troop in 1918, and except for one brief period, when he acted as Deputy Commissioner of the Auckland District, he has been in charge of the troop ever since. He found it necessary to resign under the pressure of business, but wnuld stand for a position on the committee. Mr. Downard also has been connected with the Scout movement, and the Kitchener troop for many years. He has left the district, and felt he
