“FAREWELL AND ADIEU

NAVAL FAREWELL DANCE The ship’s company of H.M.S. Diomede gave a very successful farewell dance in the Town Hall last evening, when about SOO guests were entertained. Flags used for decorative effect were hung round the gallery and at the back of the stage in the form of a screen. Supper was served in an adjoining room which was also prettily decorated. PopiTies and sweet peas were used to adorn the tables.. Among the guests were Commodore Swabey, Mrs. Swabey and Miss Carslake, Commanders Bradley, Godfrey, Morgan, Lieut-Commander Rowley and Engineer-Commander Jones. Members of the Auckland and Devon port Naval League were also present, among those present being: Mrs. M. M. ifwersen, Mrs. «J. F. Maguire, Mrs. Sharp, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Bradbury, Mrs. Farquharson, Mrs. Mack, Mrs. Croker, Miss A. Newton, Miss K. Maloy, Miss M. Campbell, Miss J. Campbell, Miss Newton, Miss McNeil, Miss Hammond, Miss Jones, Miss Hurst, Miss Giil, Miss Roller, Miss N. Worthy, Miss Freeman, Misses Craig, Misses Hoare, Misses Kelly, Miss Lighton, Miss Bradford, Miss King, Miss Brain, Miss Coath, Miss Bootn, Miss Warren, Miss Young, Miss Jackson, Misses Dicky, Miss M. Clark, Miss Hicks, Miss Wrigley, Miss P. Redmond, Miss Wyatt, Miss M. Crandall, Miss Mortimer and Miss Boyd.
