DAVIS CUP TENNIS WITH PORTUGAL EACH WINS ONE SINGLE (United P.A. — By Telegraph — Copyrignt) (Australian P.A. — United Service) LONDON, Saturday. The Davis Cup match between New Zealand and Portugal was begun yesterday at Lisbon. In the singles E. D. Andrews (New Zealand) defeated Pinto Coelho, 6—3, 6—4, 6 —o; "Verda (Portugal), defeated R. T. Young, 6—2, 6—2, 6—3. In the doubles to-day Andrews and Young defeated Verda and Vasscoucellos, 7 —5 4 —6, 6—2, 6—2. Playing at Dublin, Holland defeated Ireland by winning the first three of the five matches. Holland will meet Hungary in the second round.
