SERVICE AT ONEHUNGA Mothers' 3)a y was observed last evening in Onehunga at a united Y.M.C.A. service, held in the Congregational Church under the patronage of the Mayor and councillors. An apology was received from the Gover-nor-General and Lady Alic 6 Fergus - son, who were prevented from attending owing to a prior engagement. Mr. J. Gordon Smith presided over [ a large congregation and appropriate | addresses were given by Mr. Vernon I Drew, general secretary to the Y M C A i and Mr. lan Lilly, Y.M.C.A. leader! j At the conclusion of the service a I sacred recital was given under the j conduetorship of Mr. R. Alan Jack- i son- The solos - ‘‘Come Unto Me” and ! The Great Awakening,” were sung bv ' Miss Myra Monk. Mr. Harold J. Hill sung "If With Ail Your Hearts” and •Open the Gates of the Temple.” Mr. j Frank Sutherland was heard in "Arm I Arm, Ye Brave” and "God, Who Madest I Heaven and Earth,” and the duet ‘ O 1 Divine Redeemer,” by Miss B. W. and j Mr. L. E. Smith, was given. The I Choir sang "The Lost Chord.” The accompanists were Miss Parker I and Mr. Ivan Lambert. The total offering is to be donated to the 1 .M.C.A. for military and boys’ ; work.
