MORRINSVILLE NOTES
A satisfactory position was revealed by the annual report and balancesheet presented at the annual meeting of parishioners of St. Matthew’s Church. Morrinsville. The Rev. F. M. Wilkes presided. It was decided to have plans prepared for a new Anglican church, as the present building was inadequate and seating accommodation was overtaxed. The vicar appealed to the parishioners to give the question full consideration. * * * Notice of motion that the following rates be struck, was given by the Mayor, Mr. W. McPherson, at meeting of the Morrinsville Borough Council. The figures for last year are given in parentheses:—General, 2£d (3d); special water loan, 3Jd; consolidated, 2£d (total last year, s*d); special (inner area sewerage), 1 7-8 d (1.7-8 d); special (outer area sewerage), l-8d (nil): water consumers, 10s (10s), nonconsumers, 5s (ss). There is a reduction of id in the general rate and an increase of 2d in the special rates, making an increase of id in the inner area The outer area has increased 3-Bd, there being an increase of l-8d in the special sewerage loan. Mr. B. Chapman was elected de-puty-Mayor, in place of Mr. W. McPherson, who was recently elected Mayor.
The annual meeting of the Morrins*ville Orphans’ Club was held on Saturday evening, Mr. G. F. Oates presiding. The following officers were elected: President, Bro. N. Dey; vice-presi-dents, Bros. F. W. Wilkes, F. N. Stringfield, A. H. J. Wyatt and C. O’Connor: committee, Bros. G. F. Oates, E. W. Harden, R. G. Fawkner, A. Gifford, J. H. Wyatt, H. Roberts J- T. Osborne. E. C. N. Robinson, E. Hitchman: chief steward. Bro. C. White: auditor, Bro. E. Gunmer; hon. accompanist, Bro. A. Gifford: hon. conductor, Bro. L. Buchan: secretary and treasurer, fcVo. I. A. Jones.
