PIG, HORSE, SADDLE, MOTOR-TYRE THREE MONTHS THE PENALTY (From Our Oton CorrespondentJ WHAKTANE, To-day. “John, John, the piper’s son, stole a pig and away he ran,” but John Fraser, a three-quarter-cast Maori, was not satisfied with stealing a pig. He also stole a horse, a motor tyre and tube, and a saddle and bridle. His escapade resulted in an appearance at the Whakatane Police Court on Saturday, For the theft of the pig he received two months’ imprisonment and an additional month for stealing the motor tyre and tube. He was merely convicted for stealing the saddle and bridle. H© pleaded guilty to stealing the horse, which was valued at £ls, and owned by Hopotata Oke, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
