At cricket, Surrey in its first innings made 418 (Barling 158, Daly 80) Gloucester in its first innings had lost seven wickets for 488 (Dipper 59 Hammond not out 185, B. Lyon 131)). ’ in its first innings has made 369 (Douglas 53, Russell not out 147). West Indies in its first strike has lost six wickets for 245 (Challenor 62). Glamorgan’s first innings yielded 128 (MacDonald taking six wickets for 38) and its second 294 for four wickets (Riches not out 110). Lancashire’s first innings was declared closed at 394 for eight wickets. Watson made 104, Hallows 101, Makepeace 57, E. Tyldesley 70. Worcestershire in its first strike made 402 (Williams not out 76, Root 64). Yorkshire in its first innings has scored 393 for five wickets (Holmes 88, Leyland not out 166). Middlesex declared with six wickets down for 471 in its first innings, Hendren having made 157, Hearne not out 233. In its second innings it has scored 16 for no wickets. Somerset’s first innings yielded 376 (Young 66, White 65, Ingle 117). Cambridge University in its first strike declared with eight wickets down for 402 (Robins 69, M. Turnbull 169, Seabrook 108)). Its second innings has yielded 18 for two wickets. Sussex, in its first innings, made 352 (Sellar S 4, Mathews 78)).
Kent’s first innings yielded 499 (Ashdown 58, Woolley 100, Cazelet 150, Hardinge not out 152). Oxford University made 216 (Crawley 112) and following on, made 141 for four wickets.
