KAWATIR! DOCKS.—The Union Company advises that the collier. Kawatiri, which was docked this morning for cleaning and painting, comes out this afternoon, and sails at five o'clock for Westport, where she loads for Auckland. MANUKA FOR MELBOURNE.—The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the passenger steamer Manuka leaves Wellington at five o’clock this afternoon for Melbourne, where she is due on Wednesday next. MAUI POMARE DU E.—Sped ding, Ltd., have been advised that the new Government motor-ship Maui Pomare is due at Apia, Samoa, on Monday, and at Wellington about May 25. She is to leave Wellington on June 4 for Auckland to pick up her running in the Island trade. MAMARi SAILS TUESDAY.—Now completing her loading at Auckland, L. D. Nathan and Company hope to dispatch the Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Mamari from here at daybreak next Tues'day for London and West of England ports, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. NIAGARA CLEARS SUVA.—Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the R.M.S. Niagara, en route from Sydney and Auckland, arrived at Suva at 31 a.m. yesterday, and left again the same afternoon for Honolulu and Vancouver. TAHITI AT SAN FRANCISCO-—The Union Company reports that the Tahiti from Wellington arrived at San Francisco yesterday. She is scheduled to leave again next Wednesday for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington and Sydney, and is due at Wellington on June 4. KAIRANGA FOR NEWCASTLE.—The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Kairnnga, from Dunedin and Timaru, leaves Lyttelton this afternoon for New Plymouth and Auckland. After discharge here the vessel proceeds to Newcastle to load for Wellington. TOFUA DUE MONDAY.—About midday on Monday the local office of the Union Company expects the Island passenger steamer Tofua to arrive in the stream at Auckland from Suva. MIDDLESEX AT LONDON.—Cabled news has been received by the Xew Zealand Shipping Company that the Federal steamer Middlesex arrived at London on Wednesday morning from Auckland, via Xew York, en route to West Coast ports of Great Britain. The vessel left Auckland on March 23.

SUSSEX DU IE TUESDAY.—En route from Calcutta, via ports, the Union Company’s chartered steamer Sussex is expected to arrive at Auckland from Brisbane. She is to berth at the Queen’s Wharf to land her local portion of her cargo before proceeding to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to complete.

ROTORUA AT SOUTHAMPTON.—A cable message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that their liner Rotorua arrived at Southampton on Wednesday from Wellington, en route to London. The vessel left Wellington on April 4, and completed the run. in the good time of 34£ days.

POOLTA AT CLARENCE RIVER.— Cable advice received by the Union Company states that the Poolta arrived at Clarence River last Wednesday from Auckland, and leaves on Monday for Port Stephens, thence Xewcastle, to complete her loading for Auckland, Wellington, Timaru, and Greymouth. She is to -dear Xewcastle finally on May 19.

TURAKINA TO LOAD.—The Xew Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Turakina is to leave Dunedin to-morrow morning to commence loading at Oamaru. She will afterwards load also at Timaru, Lyttelton, Picton and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington on May 31, and will sail finally from there on June 2 for London, via Panama.

QUEEN ELEANOR REPORTS.—According to a radio message received toy the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the tramp steamer Queen Eleanor is expected to arrive at Auckland on Tuesday evening from St. John and New York. The vessel will berth at the Prince’s Wharf to land the local portion of her cargo before proceeding to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to complete.

PORT DUNEDIN’S PASSENGERS. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line's motor-ship Port DunedKi. which left London on April 5 for Port Chalmers, Lyttelton and Xew Plymouth, will arrive at Port Chalmers this evening with the following passengers: Mrs. J. M. Thompson, Captain T. M. Tate, Mr. A. R. Browne, Mrs. and Miss Browne, Mr. J. C. M. Butterworth, Mrs. Butterworth. Dr. Thompson is acting as medical officer. PORT AUCKLAND TO LOAD. —The C. and D. Line advises that the Port Auckland arrived at New Plymouth yesterday morning from Timaru to complete discharge and to commence loading. The vessel is to leave New Plymouth to-day week to load also at Opua, Auckland (May 23 to May 24), Tokomaru Bay, Gisborne and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on June 4, and will sail finally from that port on June 7 for London, via Las Palmas. LAMB STEAMERS.—The Northern Steamship Company advises the following movements of steamers belonging to the Lamb Steamship Company: The Ihumata arrived at Auckland this morning from Sydney, via Newcastle and Tauranga, and sails at 4 p.m. on Monday for Onerahi for bunkers, thence she proceeds to Greymouth to load for Australia. The Omana left Newcastle yesterday for Xew Plymouth and Wanganui. The Gabriella is scheduled to load at Melbourne on May 21, and go thence to Sydney, Xewcastle, and Wanganui, where j she is due about the first week in June. TAMAROA IN PORT.—From London, via Wellington, the Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Tamaroa arrived at Auckland this morning. She berthed at the Prince's Wharf to unload 3,000 tons of general merchandise. Afterwards the vessel will commence loading at Auckland for the Homeward voyage. The other loading ports are Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, and Wellington. With passengers and mail, the Tamaroa is to be dispatched from Wellington at daybreak on June 9 for Southampton and London, via Panama. A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., are the local agents. TRANSPACIFIC CARGO STEAMERS. —The Union Company advises the following movements of steamers engaged in the trans-Pacific cargo services:— The Waikawa will clear San Francisco to-morrow for Los Angeles to complete loading for Apia, Xapier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff, and New Plymouth. The Hauraki, from Sydney, via Suva and Honolulu, is due at Vancouver today, and will proceed thence to Powell River, Union Bay. Ocean Falls, and San Francisco to complete loading for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. She will clear San Francisco on June 1. The Waitemata, from Sydney, via Suva, is due at Vancouver on May 23, and will proceed thence to San Francisco and Los Angeles, to complete loading for Auckland, Melbourne, Adelaide and Syttney. The Waihemo will clear Sydney on Monday for Vancouver and San Francisco, via Fiji, to load fdr Auckland. Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. She is due at Suva on May 22. The Wairuna, from San Francisco, via Auckland, is due at Wellington to-day. She proceeds thence on Monday next to Melbourne. Adelaide and Sydney to complete discharge, and is due at Melbourne on May 21. The Waiotapu left Los Angeles on Sunday last for Papeete, thence Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney. She is due at Papeete on May* 21 and at Auckland on June 1. MAIMOA’S MOVEMENTS.—The Shaw. Savill and Albion Company advises that the Maimoa leaves Gisborne on Monday for Wanganui, thence Lyttelton and Wellington, to complete her loading for Home. She is to sail finally from Wellington on May 26 for London and Hull. Via Montevideo and Rio de Janeiro.

PIPIRIKI LEAVES MONTREAL.— Cabled advise has been received by the New Zealand Ship] it the Pipiriki left Montreal on May S for Sydney (Cape Breton) and Xew York, to continue loading. She is to sail finally from Xew York on May 22 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin.

PASSENGERS FOR NEW ZEALAND. —Xew Zealand passengers who left England on March 31 by the Orsova for Australia are:—Mr. and Mrs. J. Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Matusch, Mrs. Ginn and child, Miss W. H. McKellar, Miss A. J. Cloudesley, Miss A. O. Hav, Mr. J. Brown. Mr. F. A. Cloudesley, Mr. J. H. Wilson.

HORORATA TO LOAD.—The Xew Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Hororata left. Wellington for Auckland this morning. The vessel is due to-morrow evening or early on Monday morning, and will berth at Queen's Wharf to continue loading refrigerated and general cargo for London. From Auckland she will go to Xapier, Lyttelton, and Wellington to complete her cargo.

A FUMIGATION CONGRESS. The French Academy of Medicine at Paris will call a Fumigation Congress at Havre on May 18, 1928, and later in Paris. It is understood that sanitary experts from all over the world have been invited to attend. The question is a particularly important one for Havre, inasmuch as hundreds of ships are fumigated at that port annually.

MAILS ARRIVING.—The Chief Postmaster advises that the steamer Echunga, which left Newcastle on May 11, is due at Wellington about May 17 with 117 bags of Australian and Eastern mail for Auckland.

The steamer Omana left Xewcastle on May 12, and is due at Xew Plymouth about May IS, with 11 bags of Australian mail for Auckland.

TASMANIA TO LOAD.—Due at Xew Plymouth to-morrow from Australia, the Xew Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Tasmania commences loading there and later proceeds to Opua, thence Auckland (May 19 to May 21), Napier, Lyttelton and Wellington to complete. She is scheduled to sail finally from the latter port on June 2 for West of England ports, via Montevideo and Las Palmas.

MANCHESTER CANAL COMPANY.— The annual report of the Manchester Ship Canal Company for 3927 shows net profit of £447,309 after deduction of interest, rentals and other fixed charges, as compared with net of £503,121 in 1926. Dividends amounting to £424,702 were recommended* by the directors, leaving a balance of £29,043. There was a j decrease of £19,982 in receipts from tolls. I ship dues and miscellaneous receipts and j a decrease of 434,144 tons in net weight j of seaborne traffic on which canal toils i were paid, compared with 1926. NAURU CHIEF ARRIVES. —The tramp steamer Nauru Chief arrived at Auckland yesterday afternoon from Nauru ' Island, via Ocean Island, and berthed at ! the Central Wharf to unload 3.500 tons of phosphates. The vessel left Nauru Island on April 27, and experienced moderate weather for the run down. After discharge here the vessel bunkers at Auckland, and returns to Nauru f Island. The Nauru Chief was last in Auckland about three years ago. The following passengers arrived by the vessel: Captain and Mrs. Govsky, Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson and two children, Mr. and Mrs. Blight. Messrs. Carpenter and Thomas. Captain M. M. Johnstone is in command, and the following are the officers: Chief, Mr. A. Rhodes: second, Mr. J. Knox; third, Mr. J. Callender: chief enginer. Mr. S. Kersey; second, Mr. H. Bishop; third, Mr. C. Moynahan; fourth, Mr. S. Wells; wireless operator, Mr. R. Jordon; chief steward, Mr. W. Robinson, j The vessel is registered at London, and 36 of the crew are Gilbert Islanders. Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd., are the local agents.
