Winter Show

PREPARATIONS IN HAND MANY NEW FEATURES Over 75,000 square feet of space will be devoted to trade exhibits at the Auckland Winter Exhibition, which opens in the Central Wharf sheds on July 11, and will extend over 10 days and 10 nights until July 21. Inquiries are coming in freely for space, and many new exhibitors are expected to take advantage of the opportunity to show their goods to the public. Older exhibitors have renewed their applications early for space. The coming show will embrace quite a number of new features. As the outcome of their visit to the Sydney Royal Show, Messrs. J. Findlay and W. F. O’Donnell hope to be of considerable service in that connection. Among the applicants for space is a new confectionery firm from Australia. This year the district courts area will be covered in. An experiment is the provision of a special cattle class, limited to 10 head and representing high-class butter-fat cows in the Jersey, Ayrshire, Friesian and Shorthorn breeds. It is generally anticipated that the lay-out of the exhibition will leave nothing to be desired, considering the space available. Strong competitive classes are expected in all sections. ! The produce division should create exceptional interest, as the New Zealand butter championship will be decided. Another class to which special interest attaches is that for flax. A considerable area of the exhibition is to be used for the display of New Zealand-made industries, and the competitive classes account for a good deal of space. Ample provision is made for the foremost side shows, entertainments and refreshments. Plans of floor space and full information are obtainable from Mr. J. Findlay (manager), Auckland Manufacturers’ Association’s office in Swanson Street, and the schedule of p:V?es in the competitive classes is to be had from Mr. W. O’Donnell (secretary), Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s office, Albert Street.
