CLERK CHARGED WITH DESTROYING RECORDS
ALLEGATION OF THEFT Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Friday. At a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Queenstown, Thomas A. Hanson, who was, until Monday last, chief clerk at the Quenstown railway station, was charged with the theft of £22 10s 2d, the property of the Government. He was further charged that on May 7, being an officer of the Government, he did for a fraudulent purpose destroy by fire one cash book, one ledger and a quantity of inward goods way bills, the property of the Government. It was stated that other charges are pending. The police asked for a remand for a fortnight, in order to obtain further evidence. Th© accused was allowed bail and has to report to the police daily.
