TAKAPUNA LOSES RATES

RESULT OF WATERSHED RESTRICTIONS CONFERENCE TO BE HELD The revaluation of Takapuna Borough as a result of the change of rating system to unimproved values has had a somewhat unexpected feature.

The land round the lake, in what is officially known as the watershed, has been closed to building for some years owing to the desire of the Health Department to preserve the purity of the water supply for the Shore, but rates have been always collected. The new valuations take into account the restrictions. and in most cases the rating valuation has been reduced to onetenth of the former values.

In consequence the Takapunq Thorough finds that it will lose approximately from £1.500 to £1,700 in rates and is now inviting the four marine boroughs to a conference to discuss a scheme to refund this sum to Takapuna, making it a charge on the water supplied. ~
