SIGHTED AT SEA
NEW STEAMER BOUND FOR NAPIER TRAMP IN ATLANTIC STORM The tramp steamer Baron Fairlie, which arrived in Auckland last evening, from Antwerp, reports having passed the Richardson Company’s new steamer Pukeko, which is en route from England to Napier. The Pukeko was sighted on the night of April 23 and a message was received asking that she be reported. Its position at that time was longitude 21.16 south and latitude 123.17 west. The Pukeko is expected to arrive at Napier either to-morrow evening or on Sunday. The Baron Fairlie left Antwerp a short time ajfter Captain TTinchcliffe and Miss Elsie Mackay started off on their tragic transatlantic flight. As the Baron Fairlie encountered heavy gales for the first 10 days of the voyage, it is the opinion on board that the flyers may have met the same conditions, which would account for them not being heard of again.
