ARMY REORGANISATION

PLAN IN BELGIUM STRONG COVERING FORCE (United P. A.—By Telegraph — Copyright.) Times Cable. LONDON, Tuesday. The Brussels correspondent of “The Times” says a desire to build up a strong covering force for mobilisation and concentration has inspired the Belgian Army Reorganisation Bill. This provides for a reduction in the period of active service to eight months until 1931 for three-fifths of the annual contingent of 44.500 men. The cyclists’ regiments, machinegun battalions and other covering units wnl serve 12 months instead of 10, in order to protect the frontier throughout the year. Fortified points will be formed on the Antwerp-Liege line, also at Verviers, Eupen and Malmedy.
