There were 60 competitors. The weather was fine, but the links were rather heavy. The first qualifymg round of the championship, a medal match, and a Canadian foursome, were played to-day. The six best cards in the qualifying round were; Mrs. Templer (Waimate), 82; Miss Gould (Christchurch), 88; Mrs. Kerr (Timaru), 88: Miss Hay (Dunedin), 89; Miss M.
