MODEL HOME
Attraction at Auckland Advertising Exhibition PLANS COMPLETE A prominent London furnishing emporium recently spent £5,000 in the erection of a modern house to demonstrate in a practical manner the vogue in furniiure and furnishings. Handsome suites of furniture and the most beautifully woven curtains and other interior fabrics were a feature of the building, which was entirely equipped—even to the provision of daily food in the larder. The firm’s advertising enterprise attracted widespread interest, and people flocked to inspect the model home. That success originated the Auckland Advertising Club’s idea of introducing a modern equipped brick house as a part of its display in the Advertising Exhibition to take place in the Town Hall buildings opening on May 22. Complete plans and specifications have been drawn, submitted and adopted, and the model home on the ground floor should be the admiration of thousands—once the exhibition is opened. An Auckland firm has undertaken to carry out the furnishings on a scale equal to that executed by the English firm in question. With all the latest fittings and appliances for lab-our-saving and comfort—not forgetting artistic lay-out—the exhibition “home” should be an apt indication of modern progress heralded by purposeful advertising.
