LEAGUE OF PENWOMEN
DRAMATIC SECTION Mrs. Nello Porter presided over a good meeting of members of the dramatic section of the League of New Zealand Penwomen on Tuesday evening. An interesting paper on the life of Oscar Wilde was read by Mrs. Arthur Griffiths, who showed how the work of this brilliant poet and dramatist lived after him. while the evil that he did was buried in his grave. Mrs. A. S. Boyd, the president of the league, spoke of the character of Oscar of heredity on the character of Oscar Wilde, whose gifts made him for so many years the idol of the British public. The members read “The Importance of Being Earnest,” the brilliant light comedy of Oscar Wilde’s. Mrs. Nello Porter, Mrs. C. Schmitt. Miss R. Robinson, Miss O. Burton, Miss D. Griffiths, Miss Haig, Miss Spurling, Miss Bertram and Miss Joyce Porter took the various parts in the play.
