NO WATER YET

ONE TREE HILL BORE DRILL TO BE USED The bore for water on One Tree Hill is now down 105 feet and there is no sign of water, the stratum being honeycombed volcanic lava. This was reported b.v the engineer, Mr. J. Dawson, at the first meeting of the newly-elected One Tree Hill Road Board last evening. It is now too expensive to continue digging and winding the spoil to the surface. The engineer considered the most economical method of proceeding was to drill a 2J-inch bore. The board will call tenders to do this work, payment to be made on a sliding scale relative to the depth of the bore. The members thought that the work should not be left now after all the money that had been spent, but agreed that the project should be abandoned if no water is struck before the 200 ft. level.
