HOTELKEEPERS DUPED
VALUELESS CHEQUE FRAUDS SIX MONTHS’ FOR CLERK Press Association. WELLINGTON, To-day. James Bruce Will Miller, clerk, aged 31 years, pleaded guilty before Mr. E. Page, S.M., to six charges of obtaining money to the value of £36 by valueless cheques issued to hotel licensees. Five of the offences related to Wellington, and one to Auckland. He had been sentenced to three months’ imprisonment in Christchurch last Saturday for similar offences. Mr. Page sentenced Miller to six months* imprisonment on the first charge, to be concurrent with the present term. On the other charges Miller was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months.
