Davis, who defeated J. Newman for the title in the match just concluded, returned to Chesterfield today. He was given a civic welcome. A band headed a procession of 5.000 people. The final scores in the match for the English billiards championship have not been cabled. On May 6. Davis had scored 14,668 and Newman 14.241. Davis has twice previously played in the final of the billiards championship, and on each occasion he was defeated by Newman. LINDRUM AND McCONACHY SYDNEY, Tuesday. As a result of to-day’s play Lindrum has scored 11,591 and McConachy 10,514. Lindrum made breaks of 1,006, 201 and 104, and McConachy of 129. 115, 110, 116, 119. 263 and 105. The breaks of the previous day were: Lindrum: 170. 183. 110, 118 and 287 unfinished. McConachy: 436, 562, 152. 225, 146.
