SIR CHARLES SKERRETT

SUCCESSFUL AMPUTATION OF LEG CONDITION SATISFACTORY Press Association. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Chief Justice, Sir Charles Skerrett, underwent a serious operation to-day, resulting in the amputation of one of his legs. It is understood the operation was rendered necessary through the presence in the leg of a clot of blood, and that amputation was resorted to finally to prevent complications The operation was performed by Sir Donald McGavin. At a late hour to-night Sir Charles's condition was reported to be satisfactory.
