SINGER FOR 1928
MANY IMPROVEMENTS In celebration of the improvements which have been effected in the engine and chassis of the 1928 Singer, the bodies have been completely redesigned, and are now very smart. There is not a straight line in the new body contour, but sweeping generous curves throughout. A raised pressed beading runs from stem to stern, with a double beading enclosing a panel of contrasting colour on the doors. Between the doors is a monogram plate. There is a neat flushtype vent in the scuttle, and a onepiece screen, supported in heavy nickelplated gunmetal stanchions of the latest outswept design. Rumble Drained Entirely new practice has been adopted for the stern of the roadster model. • The stern consists of rounded pressings of generous proportions. The boot lid is sun flush with the body line, and is fitted all round with a sunken gutter inside to drain off all water which penetrates the crevices and prevent it from entering the compartment. With storm curtains up and all-weather side curtains in place, the roadster becomes practically a coupe. The centre of the back curtain takes out at will to permit easy conversation with the passengers in the rumble seat. Interiors of the bodies are luxurious. Seats are of genuine top-hide leather. The angle is like that of a big armchair, creating the effect that driver or passenger had been measured for the seat. The finish includes a polished blackwood instrument board. Contrasting colour schemes in which the bodies are obtainable are smart and arresting.
