HOLMES APPEAL CASE FINDING OF THE JUDGES REINSMAN SUCCESSFUL Messrs. H. P. Nicoll, D. J. Evans and B. S. Irwin, the three judges representing the New Zealand Trotting Conference, heard the appeal of F. G. Holmes against the suspension of his rider’s and driver’s licence by the Trotting Association, when the reinsman’s appeal was upheld. F. G. Holmes previously appeared beforo the association to show cause why his licences for the current season should not be cancelled. This action was taken on the grounds that the Canterbury reinsman had committed the following offences this season :v September, 1927: Fined £2 at Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting for using steel-lined whip. February, 1928: Cautioned by New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club for careless driving. March, 1928: His horse placed third and Author Jinks second on account of interference in Timaru Trotting Cup. Judges Analyse Cases Holmes had duly, appeared before the association —admitted that he had been lined as stated by the Geraldine Racing Club in September, 1927, and that he had been cautioned by the New Zealand Metropolitan,- Trotting Club in February of this year, but denied that he had been guilty of any offence in March in Timaru. ; It was admitted by the representatives of the association that the offence committed at Geraldine was a
