Miss E. Enright, of Auckland, is on a visit to Hamilton. Miss D. Mitchell, of Auckland, is on a visit to Christchurch. Miss Moody has returned to Timaru after a visit to Auckland. Miss Kathleen Gordon, of Hamilton, is visiting friends in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Clare, of Wellington, are visitors to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. J. Martin, of Wellington, are staying at the Commercial Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Aitken Commons have returned from a visit to Mount Egmont and Wellington. Miss N. Tizard, of Hamilton, has been in Auckland visiting her mother, Mrs. W. H. Tizard. Mrs. Harold Pettit returned to Auckland this morning by the Niagara after a visit to Sydney. Miss Mary Geddes, who has been spending the week-end in town, will return to Waiwera to-day.

FORMED AT .PAPATOETOE At a well-attended meeting of mothers held in the St. George’s Sunday School Kindergarten Hall (Papatoetoe) on Saturday afternoon, it was decided to form a cradle roll, to be run in conjunction with the various Sunday schools throughout the district.# Mrs. Pearce, of Auckland, attended, and gave a very interesting address on the management of a cradle roll. Short addresses were also given by Misses Earl and Eliffe on kindergarten work. After a brief discussion. Miss G. Leonard, who is in charge of the Anglican kindergarten school, w T as appointed as organiser for the Papatoetoe cradle roll. Afternoon tea was provided by the teachers of St. George’s Sunday School. There were many kindergarten children present, and Miss Smith sang an appropriate solo for the tiny tots. Mrs. P. C. Davis was accompanist, and Miss Ivy Smytheman acted as accompanist for the hymns. THAMES GIRLS’ GUILD About 100 members and friends were the guests of the committee of the Thames Girls’ Club . (inc.R on Thursday last to afternoon tea. Included among the guests were the Mayoress, Mrs. A. D. Campbell, and Mrs. G. R. Hutchinson. The president, Mrs. P. McGregor, occupied the chair. The clubroom was charmingly decorated with the club’s colours and the tea tables each held a bowl of autumn flowers. Competitions and musical items contributed by Mesdames Trembath, AlcCallum and McKinstry and Mr. Robinson made the afternoon most successful. Community singing and ”Auld Lang Syne” brought the gathering to a close just before 5 p.m. PADDY’S MARKET FOR SUNSHINE LEAGUE As a result of the Paddy’s Market organised by Mrs. W. H. Wood in aid of the Sunshine League Fund for the benefit of the patients at the Tokanui Hospital, the sum of £l9 30s was collected on Thursday, despite the unfavourable weather.
