PUKEKOHE NEWS
The Pukekohe branch of the Workers’ Educational Association has arranged for eight lectures to be delivered during the 1928 session. Officers elected were: President, Mr. S. P. Day; secretary, Mr. E. F. Snell; committee, Messrs. A. C. Gill, junr., R. C. Clark, E. F. Snell, W. F. J. Munro, H. H. D. Wily, Rev. J. P. Cowie, Mrs. Morrin and Miss Priestly. The secretary reported that upon the inauguration of the branch last year some 40 members were enrolled, the number subsequently increasing to 54. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr. N. M. Richmond, 8.A., director of the tutorial classes, gave a lecture m “Unemployment in New Zealand,” basing his remarks upon the report made recently by the Auckland research committee set up to investigate the causes of unemployment. * * * The annual meeting of of St. ePter’s Church, Bombay, was held on Thursday, the vicar, the Rev. Mr. Grace, presiding. Officers appointed were: Vicar’s warden, Mr. J. A. Lowry; people’s warden, Mr. W. J. Rutherford; secretary, Mrs. Burgess; vestry, Messrs. Robson, Cox and Litt.
