FUR SHOP ROBBED
BURGLARY IN UPPER QUEEN ST. POST OFFICE RANSACKED Last night thieves broke into the premises of Madame Minus, furrier and frock specialist, Upper Queen Street, and removed a quantity of valuable goods. The door was fastened with a Yale lock, but the intruders had no difficulty in forcing this and easilv gaining an entrance. The shop, which has workrooms at the back, was ransacked. Two or three fur coats were taken and a number of articles of women’s clothing. The loss is a fairly heavy one, which had not been fully assessed this morning by the proprietress. Copeland’s grocery store in Dominion Road was broken into on Saturday evening, and a quantity of tobacco stolen. LETTERS OPENED Cm Saturday it was discovered that the Kumeu Post Office had been broken into and ransacked. Letters were opened and several crossed cheques were left lying about the floor. An attempt had been made to open the safe, but fortunately this was unsuccessful. Some of the mail which was waiting to be delivered is missing*.
