Mr. Albert Chamberlain, president of the British Welcome and Welfare League of Toronto, before the Immigration Committee, urged that linancial assistance be given to British women and children to join their husbands and fathers in Canada. He said 1,000 men were living here with families in Britain. The British Government was prepared to assist tire league in family reunions. If Canada would pay 50 per cent the league could bring 50,000 women and children. Canada must not become a meltingpot, but must be kept British.
