OILY TRAIL

MR. SINCLAIR’S LAPSES OF MEMORY U.S. SENATE INQUIRY (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 2.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, Tues. Mr. H. F. Sinclair gave the Senate Teapot-Dome committee his version of the oil affair, in which he had frequent lapses of memory. He said that he received £151,400 as his share of the Continental profits. He took it to benefit his company. Mr. 11. M. Blackmer, another oil magnate, told him to keep this a secret. He did so until his recent acquittal, when he turned it over, plus interest, to his directors. He confirmed the testimony of Mr. W. Hays, ex-Postmaster-General, concerning the Republican deficit, and the loan of Liberty bonds to Mr. Hays. He said that he made other political contributions but was not asked for details. .
