WATERSIDER SUES STEVEDORING FIRM
CRUSHED BY TIMBER FULL CLAIM AWARDED Medical evidence was called before Mr. Justice Frazer at the Arbitration Court yesterday, when Thomas Milner claimed compensation from Leonard and Dingley, Ltd., in respect of an accident which occurred while he was assisting in unloading operations on the West Henshaw at Prince’s Wharf on March 16, 1927. Plaintiff suffered a broken leg through the accidental lowering of a sling of timber. His left leg was permanently shortened as a result of the accident, which adversely affected his capacity for work. Defendants maintained that it was quite easy for the body to adapt itself to the shortening of the leg, and denied that there was any serious effect on plaintiff’s capacity for work. Judgment was given for plaintiff with full compensation from the date of the last payment and future compensation at full rate for a further six weeks.
