BOARD CONTEMPLATES CLOSING HOSPITAL
TROUBLE AT WARKWORTH “We have more trouble with that place than anywhere.” It seems to me that the board would be justified in closing down the hospital until the people come to their senses.” In these words the chairman of the Hospital Board delivered his opinion of Warkworth Cottage Hospital, and the people of the district yesterday. A request had been received for a deputation to attend the board meeting. Mr. William Wallace said that if the deputation were received the nurse also should be heard. It would not matter what nurse was sent to the district there would be trouble. “A tirade” had been started against the present one. The total receipts from the hospital were £144 4s 4d, and it seemed that the board was hardly warranted in not closing it down. It was decided to hear the deputation.
