“PRETTY POOR”
TRUANT TEACHERS' EXCUSES Teachers who “wagged it” from the annual sports meeting of school children gave “pretty poor” excuses in “some cases,” according to the secretary of the Education Board, Mr. E. C. Purdie. The headmasters of Birkenhead, Edendale, Napier Street, Normal, Onehunga, and Ponsonby Schools had been asked to report on the small attendance of their teachers at the sports. “They’ve had a warning,” said Mr. Purdie. “Perhaps there will be more cooperation next year,” said the chairman, Mr. A. Burns. The reports were received, and no action was taken.
