BIRTHDAY DANCE
MISS ALVA PAYNE To celebrate the 21st birthday of her daughter Alva, Mrs. M. Payne, of Takapuna, gave a delightful dance party in the Domain Kiosk on Saturday evening, when about 80 guests were entertained. Roses and dahlias provided attractively colourful decoration for the supper tables, and the lights were subtly shaded to throw a rosy glow over the rooms. Mrs. Payne wore a smart gown of peach-tinted crepe de chine with contrasts of beige toning. The guest of honour was dressed in white satin crepe, with a scarlet shoulder rose. Miss Bonnie Payne wore a frock of mist green georgette. Among the guests were: Mrs. I). Buchan, in a feather-trimmed frock of silver tissue. Mrs. A. McColl, flower-trimmed frock of black taffeta. Mrs. A. Bree, wearing opal blue satin inset with lace. Mrs. Rhodes, beaded frock of lacquer red crepe de chine. Mrs. Tysoe, frock of mist blue taffeta with silver relief. Miss Burrell, in a frock of rhinestonetrimmed wistaria georgette. Miss P. Nolan, who wore a crystal beaded froc-k of rose and white chiffon. Miss G. Williams, in a frock of black georgette. Miss L. Bowen, wearing a powder blue frock of satin crepe. Miss E. Gash, whose frock of opal blue georgette was trimmed with silver. Miss B. Rhodes, wearing a beaded frock of black georgette. Miss L. Inglis, in an embossed frock of Miss D. Edwards, who wore an opal shot, taffeta frock inset with lace. Miss INF. Mills, in a frock of black chiffon mounted on rose pink. Miss N. McColl, nasturtium-toned frock of georgette. Miss S. Reid, frock of iris mauve taffeta and lace. Miss A. Gordon, white satin crepe frock. Miss R. Gordon, frock of pale lavender georgette. Miss D. Nutsford, frock of gold lace over primrose foundation. Miss R. Suisted, hyacinth blue frock of satin panelled with lace. Miss P. Rhodes, frock of black sequins and crepe faille. Miss P. Lugden, frock of black Chantilly lace. Miss R. Noble, Betty blue taffeta frock. Miss D. Channel', frock of white ringvelvet. Miss F. Earle, blush rose taffeta frock inset with lace. Miss N. Dixon, frock of ficelle-tinted crepe elise. Miss D. Davis, black frock appliqued with pastel pink flowers.
