Waikato’s Second Day The concluding day of the Waikato Racing Club’s autumn meeting, which opened to-day, will be held on Monday. Wanganui Winter Fixture Nominations for this jumping meeting on May 17 and 19 are due on Monday night. Rode the Double C. Scott, who rode El Gallo when he won the Great Northern Doubles in 1915 and 1916, is now at Trentham, employed at Coalition Lodge, under Captain Gage Williams. Gillett may keep him in useful work for some time yet. Sold Again Thorndale again changed hands on Saturday, being sold by Messrs. Macdonald and Wood to Mr. A. ,T. Tutton, of North Canterbury, at a substantial figure. The gelding remains in F. P. Claridge’s stable. Koauau For Wingatui W. McDonald has Koauau looking in good health. The hurdle races at the South Canterbury meeting are not long enough to show him at his best, and probably he will make his next appearance at the Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting in June. Likes the Climate H. Moore, who a few years ago was a prominent hurdle horseman in the Dominion, and rode Coeur de Lion to victory in the Great Northern Hurdle Race of 1901, is at present in Hawke’s Bay. He has for some time been in business as an hotel-keeper at Caulfield. However, he may settle down in Hawke’s Bay, the fine climate in this part of the world having always a strong attraction for him. Not Yet Ready Nukumai is a notable absentee from the horses engaged in jumping events at the Auckland Racing Club’s winter meeting, but he has been engaged on the flat at Egmont. The reason why he was not nominated for Auckland is, according to trainer A. M. Wright, that he is not forward enough. Nukumai ; he says, has been in work some time”

T. Webster is without doubt one of the most promising apprentice riders New Zealand has produced in recent years, and it is to be hoped that he will fulfil this promise and reach a high position in his profession. In order to gain experience during the winter, when his activities will be restricted here on account of the welterweight season, young TYebster is going across to Sydney next month, and while there will do the light riding for a prominent stable. As the minimum m Australia is 6.7 and the apprentice allowance is 71b, inclusive of two-year-old races, the lad will have plenty of opportunities to show what he can do. It will be pleasing to hear that " e devel °pinsr the distinct promise he has already shown since he started riding last spring.
